Why is this important?

 

The FSA measures skill achievement in relationship to the grade level standards. Instruction and interventions for students with reading disabilities must be aligned with the grade level standards. This is also a requirement of standards-aligned IEPs.

 

Teachers need tools and resources that support universal instruction within a standards-based curriculum. Tools that support a continuous cycle of student learning and improvement include:

• Flexible scope and sequence to support a diverse student population.
• Indicators of mastery.
• Exemplars of mastery level work with rubrics designed for student-led progress monitoring.
• Flexible instruction planning guides.
• Flexible instructional materials designed to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
